Microsoft to revolutionise media landscape with MSN Nigeria portal

 

As part of measures to expand the Microsoft Network (MSN) Portal to deliver locally relevant news that are tailored to address local users in Nigeria and Africans in diaspora. Devices and Services Company, Microsoft has partnered with Kagiso Media to officially unveil the MSN Nigeria Portal in Lagos.  The launch had a line-up of different activities including a media conference and editorial roundtable session.

Sterling Bank Launches the Sterling-Arsenal Debit Cards

 

The highly publicized partnership between Sterling Bank and Arsenal Football Club has been formally sealed with the launch of the co-branded debit cards for the use of millions of fans and card holders in Nigeria.

As part of Sterling Bank’s unique focus on satisfying the deepest needs and passions of its customers, these co-branded debit cards, (available in VISA and VERVE) are one of numerous benefits of the initial three-year partnership between the bank and Arsenal Football Club.

Commenting during the event which held at The Emirates Stadium, London, Yemi Adeola, the CEO of Sterling Bank Plc explained that “the initiative underscores the Bank’s strategic retail market focus while Ivan Gazidis, the CEO of Arsenal Football Club highlighted the rich history of the Club and ‘noted the deep similarities in history and values between both organizations; promising that “the Club will remain true to its founding ideals”.

Forbes Shortlist More Nigerians for African Person Of the Year


Over time forbes has showed us the top richest in African and Nigerians has been listed among those pushing wealth in the notion, the latest shortlist by Forbes has been dominated by Nigerians personalities.

US base business website, Forbes has announced the Forbes Africa Person of the Year shortlist, with Nigerians dominating.

Forbes announced on its Forbes Africa page, that it had narrowed down its shortlist for the 2013 Person of the Year Awards. The awards will take place in Nairobi, Kenya at the beginning of December this year.

An official voting is also open to the public who can make their selection of the individual they deem most worthy of the Person of the Year title.

The Person of the Year Awards celebrate ‘the individual who, for better or worse, has had the most influence on events of the year gone by’ and Forbes Africa has welcomed the participation of the public in what is fast becoming one of the most anticipated annual events in Africa.

“Every year, we are excited to decide the Forbes Africa Person of the Year. We want to honour the big hitters of the continent who are making a difference in people’s lives and we hope that in doing so, it will inspire others,” commented Chris Bishop, the managing editor of Forbes Africa magazine.

Three Nigerians, one South African and one Zimbabwean, made the shortlist.

Ventures Africa magazine has released their list of the top 10 Richest People in Africa 2013.

The combined fortune of Africa’s 55 billionaires is $143.88 billion. The average net worth of the members of this exclusive club is $2.6 billion, while the median age of the richest people in Africa is 65 years. The oldest billionaires are Kenyan industrialist, Manu Chandaria, and Egyptian property tycoon, Mohammed Al-Fayed, both aged 84. The youngest billionaires are Mohammed Dewji of Tanzania and Igho Sanomi, a Nigerian oil trader. They are both 38 years old.

BlackBerry agrees to $4.7 billion buyout


The end in site of former Tech pioneer BlackBerry has come as the company has agreed to a probable $4.7 billion buyout by a consortium planning to take the struggling smartphone maker private.

BlackBerry was once a leader in mobile tech but has been squeezed by rivals Android and Apple, which coincidentally announced record sales of its latest iPhone on Monday.

The Ontario-based company said it had signed a letter of intent with a group led by Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, which has offered to acquire the company.
