THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade; the Zaki of Rigidi Akoko, Oba Yisa Olanipekun and other traditional rulers in the Yorubaland are expected to officially launch a Yoruba socio-cultural organisation in the United Kingdom.
The organisation, Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) is part of the efforts of sons and daughters of the Yorubaland in the United Kingdom to form a common front in UK.
The official inauguration of the organisation will take place on the 7th of September at Unit 9-14 Nice Business Park, Sylan Groove, London.
According to members of the organisation, the Nigerian High Commission in United Kigdom has expressed its support for the group and members of the commission are expected at the official launching.
According to the national coordinator of OPU, Olawale Harrison-Obafemi, “the new union will unite the Yorubas in UK and motivate them to develop the Yoruba cultural value.”
