The Ogun Police Command on Monday said that it had arrested three suspected armed robbers terrorising Ogun and Oyo States.
The command’s spokesman , Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement in Abeokuta that the robbers were arrested on Sunday.
He said the suspects were apprehended at Obada Oko and Papalanto in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun at about 5 a.m.
”The suspects are members of a robbery syndicate that was burst in Ifo recently and the case is under prosecution in the Magistrate Court 11, Ota, with nine suspects arraigned.
”The suspects were arrested as a follow up to the ongoing investigation into the series of robbery operations of the syndicate by a special team of policemen.
”The team was led by Ifo Divisional Police Officer, CSP Gbenga Megbope, and the suspects have confessed to the crimes.
”Items recovered from the suspects included one locally made double barrel gun, one locally made single barrel gun, 20 live cartridges, 10 cell phones and jewelry.
”Others are three brand new unregistered Bajaj motorcycles in addition to five guns earlier recovered from the colleagues of the suspects, ” Adejobi said.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had put all officers and men in the command on their toes to ensure effective policing
