Nigerians now book dinner online — Sheraton boss

General Manager, Sheraton Lagos Hotel, Mr. Alexander Gassauer, has disclosed that Nigerians have started imbibing the culture of booking dinning tables online.


He said before now, Nigerians will prefer to come to the hotel for their meals and wine deciding to pay cash, but gthe cashless bug has caught up with many.

Speaking at the introduction of the Triple Benefits loyalty programme from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide , Alexander Gassauer said online bookings that took other countries decades to achieve that Nigerians are doing in less than three years.

“We want to see more booking done online as we want to see more Nigerians book tables through website. The drive to online booking in Nigeria is growing and the future is the web booking.”

Gassauer disclosed that Starwood hotel groups will soon be opening up four new properties in Nigeria as arrangement has been concluded to have two more hotels in Lagos and one each in Ibadan and Benin City.

He said the decision of the hotel brand not to have beach resort in the country as in other destinations is because Nigeria beaches are not save for such investments.

On the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) “Triple Benefits” programme for its members, he said for three months from July, SPG members will enjoy three exclusive benefits whenever they dine at one of over 600 participating restaurants and bars in Starwood hotels &resorts around the world.

While disclosing that there are currently four starwoord hotels in Nigeria with Sheraton Hotels in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, as well as the Four point hotel in Lagos, Alexander Gassauer explained that the Triple Benefits has been launched to give members more reasons to enjoy the company’s Food &Beverage options when they are on the road or at home in their local destinations.
