The Katsina Magistrate’s Court 1 sitting in Katsina has sentenced 33-year-old Zaharadeen Shehu to six months in prison without an option of fine for vandalising borehole and stealing its equipment.
The verdict followed arraignment and charges levelled against Zaharadeen, a resident of Saulawa quarters in Katsina municipal, by the state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Zaharadeen was arrested at Gwongwon area of Katsina municipal by operatives of the Anti-Vandal Unit of the NSCDC while vandalising a borehole constructed by the state government.
Meanwhile, the state commandant of NSCDC, Ibrahim Musa Zabura, has assured that officers and men of the corps would not relent in curbing the activities of vandals in the state.
Zabura, in a statement by the corps’ Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Jamilu, urged the public to desist from vandalising public property, warning that “vandals in the Katsina must either stop or leave the state because the command is determined to crush any act of vandalism”.
