Fresh Attack On Gamboru Ngala Kills 4 Civilians

At least four civilians were said to have been killed while eight others were seriously injured when some suspected Boko Haram gunmen invaded Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of Borno state in the early hours of yesterday.


 Gamboru Ngala is a border town with Cameroun Republic, about 135 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital which had witnessed series of bombings and killings in recently.

 Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen numbering about 50 rode on motorcycles and armed with sophisticated weapons stormed Flatari ward of the council at about 2am and ordered residents to come out from their houses before they opened fire on them which resulted in the death of four residents.

 A reliable source told LEADERSHIP that the gunmen also set ablaze some houses in flatari and fled.

 He explained that the gunmen were on a revenge mission following the recent arrest of one of their members by youth vigilantes (civilian JTF).

 According to the source, the military used to patrol the area before the formation of youth vigilantes.

The Military Spokesman, Lt Col Sagir Musa and the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jubrin could not be reached for their comments as at time of going to press.
