The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Executive Council has carried out an upward review of some of the new services introduced in the FCT hospitals for a more effective health care service delivery to residents.
This is one of the decisions reached during the FCT executive meeting held at the banquet hall of the FCT Minister’s official residence in Abuja.
Some of the new services reviewed include the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) =N15, 000 per day; Hemodialysis with vascular access-N14, 000 per session and Hemodialysis without vascular access-N19,000 per session.
Other new laboratory services including Hbe Surface Antigen test and H-Pylori test which will now go for N2,600 and N2,000 respectively, while new Radiology services like Trans Vaginal Scan (TVS) go for N2,500; CT Intravenous Urography (IVU)- N60,000; CT Angiography- N70,000; Trans Rectal Scam- N2,000; CT Scam (Abdomen) - N40,000; CT Scan (Brain) N30,000; Echocardiography-N10,000.
In his remarks, the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, explained that the new charges were to enhance the world class health care services being rendered to FCT residents.
The FCT however rejected the proposal for an upward review of all other charges currently being provided by FCT hospitals, stressing that it must not be increased directly or indirectly, as the administration is more than ever prepared to serve the people.
The expressed the commitment to continue to provide free antenatal services as initially conceived and to even expand the package in all the nooks and crannies of the FCT.
A statement by the FCT Minister’s Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Hazat Sule, said the exco emphasized that a people-oriented programme had been conceived to enhance effective health care delivery in the FCT, especially to the indigents, highlighting that shortcomings in funding would be augmented through the SURE-P and other sources.
