ASUU lauds Ajimobi, Aregbesola

THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has praised the duo of the Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, and his counterpart in Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, over their unison in constituting the school’s governing council.

The union, in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the chairman, Dr. O.O. Oyegoke and secretary, Dr. M. A. Azzez, noted that it became necessary to appreciate efforts of the governors because they had shown the right way.

“We appreciate the efforts of the two visitors to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso in appointing eminent personalities of Oyo and Osun states into the 8th Governing Council for the university which was inaugurated recently.

“This action has further confirmed the duo of Abiola Ajimobi and Rauf Aregbesola (the visitors to the university), as true believers and practitioners of due process.

“As we welcome these eminent indigenes of Oyo and Osun states, it is our hope that the Governing Council, as a body, will ensure strict adherence to the laws and edict establishing Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. Now that the two governors have shown the way, members of the Governing Council should not do less.

“The laws and the edict of the university must be interpreted to the letter. LAUTECH, as a fledgling academic institution, has suffered greatly in recent years of her existence from undue interference in its running.

“We are eagerly awaiting the Governing Council to set in motion necessary machineries to facilitate selection of substantive principal officers for the university as all the existing ones are operating in acting capacity. While pledging our unalloyed support, we wish the new members of the Governing Council a happy and successful tenure with greater achievement,” the union stated.
