The chairman of the ASD Group of Companies, Alhaji Sani Dauda, yesterday expressed sadness over the sudden death of his wife, Hajiya Fatima Sani Dauda, who died in her sleep on Friday at their Kaduna residence, saying she will be missed for her forthrightness.

Hajiya Dauda, born to the family of Alhaji Hamzat Ahmed (rtd DIG), on December 9, 1976, died in her sleep without any sign of illness.

Alhaji Dauda said late Hajiya Fatima, who is his fourth wife,  would be seriously missed for her kindness, warmness and acceptability of the entire family.

He said, “In fact, the night before she died, she called me in Saudi and we spoke, not knowing that she was going to die the next morning. Her death is quit painful. My prayers for her is that Allah will grant her Aljana Fidaus because only Allah knows why it had to happen the way and manner it happened and the period in which it happened, which happens to be in the Holy month of Ramadan,” he said.

Alhaji Duada, who spoke through his son, the Group Managing Director of ASD Group of Companies, Alhaji Shehu Sani Dauda, said his wife, until her death, had been partaking in the Ramadan fast and had also prayed together with the entire family the night before her death without any complaint of any illness before going to bed for sleep from which she never woke up.

“She was a very religious and God-fearing woman, very straight forward in all her dealings, a mother to all my kids without any form of discrimination and a sister to all my other wives,” he said.

“I got the sad news of her sudden death while in Saudi performing the lesser hajj (Umrah) and had to abort the hajj to return to the country; my prayers for her are that Allah will grant her peace and eternal rest.”

Until now, she was based in Abuja and visited Kaduna only when the children are on holidays, he said.

Some of the family relatives and her siblings who spoke to LEADERSHIP expressed sadness over her death.

Balaraba Asiyat Barau said her late sister will be missed for her humility and generosity, while another sister to the late Hajiya Fatima said she was going to miss her a lot because “she was more than a sister to me; she was like a mother to me. She looked after me right from childhood until I got married; we had a strong bond.”
