The Imo State University graduate we learnt is the voice of Esau while Atiku Abubakar is the hand of Jacob propelling him on.
Sources close to Mr. Ikenga noted that ever since his botched attempt to cause confusion for the APC, he has been strategizing on how to come back into relevance.
Speaking further , the source said; “You know that Ikenga has never liked Bamanga Tukur being chairman of the PDP, hence he saw the opportunity to sell the idea to top aggrieved PDP members on the need to form a parallel party that will enable them chart their own political destiny”.
Investigations conducted on behalf of elombah.com reveals that Ikenga had earlier gone to the court seeking Mr. Tukur’s disqualification from the party’s chairmanship. When that failed, he threatened to mobilize millions of youth to protest against Tukur, an action which also failed. During the infamous INEC leadership under Maurice Iwu, Mr. Ikenga floated a group by the name, Alliance for defense of democracy (ADD), to canvass for Iwu to be retained by the government.
Ikenga who we gathered is a hatchet man for the highest bidder is notorious for fermenting trouble where there is none, all to earn a living, no matter whose ox is gored.
The flamboyant automobile lover does not hesitate to float his wealth around and displaying pictures of his travelling spree abroad on his Facebook wall.
Barrister Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere is an activist member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and was Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State between 2007 and 2010, a former spokesman of Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths and Director of Youth Mobilisation for the Umaru Musa Yar‘Adua Presidential Campaign in 2007. Ugochinyere had been in the forefront of the campaign for sanity in the leadership of the PDP while challenging the status of the acting National Working Committee of the party in a bid to remove the chairman, Bamanga Tukur. In August this year he claimed that he instituted a suit on whether a man who is not yet a member of the party has the right to stand for election and be elected as the national chairman of the party.
Various sources who spoke to this reporter squealed that the controversial Ikenga is currently living large due to his latest move of factionalizing the PDP, but stated that he would soon run back to the Bamanga Tukur faction when he’s no longer given the money he so desire.
While the battle for the soul of PDP rages on, Ikenga has fired the first salvo by calling Bamanga Tukur an illegal member of the party, “reckless fisherman, imposter chairman and impotent child who is hallucinating”.
Yesterday Ugochinyere called Bamanga Tukur riot act to members of the new PDP calling the threat a “drowning fisherman press conference”.
In a statement made available to elombah.com, the Convener of the New PDP Stakeholders Forum stated:
“The attention of the PDP Stakeholders Forum and die-hard supporters of the New PDP which is on a rescue mission has been drawn to the ranting and impotent statement made by the drowning PDP factional chairman Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to the emergence of the popular new leadership of the party. I want the press to know that the statement made by Tukur at his today’s (yesterday) press conference is nothing but a desperate crying speech of a reckless fisherman who has lost control of his boat as a result of recklessness and is fast sinking.
We urge members of the party to ignore the speech like they have ignored the ranting of the impostor Chairman in the past.
Tukur is not in tune with realities on the ground. We urge him to stop crying and bow his head in shame for destroying a united party. We dare him to use his impotent childish suspension option which has faded away with his dislodged rotten reign….
Let nobody listen to a man who is not even a member of the party. Let him face the legal battle fired on him and forget noise making as he lacks the power to declare anybody’s seat vacant as such power is with us now,” He concluded.
Ikenga is well known for acting as a stooge of anybody with cash to pay,” said a source within the PDP.
In June 2010, Mr. Ugochinyere had gone to court in order to scuttle Okwesilieze Nwodo’s bid to become the national chairman of the PDP. In March 2012, when a number of PDP interests were at odds with Bamanga Tukur, the young lawyer, who refers to himself as Ikenga, again went to court seeking Mr. Tukur’s disqualification from the party’s chairmanship. In addition, Mr. Ugochinyere threatened to mobilize protesters against Mr. Tukur.
One of Mr. Ugochinyere’s most notorious roles was to serve as the leader of a group hired by former Governor Ohakim of Imo State to stage demonstrations protesting the removal of Maurice Iwu, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Acting in the name of a shadowy group called Alliance for the Defense of Democracy (ADD), Mr. Ugochinyere sued to compel the government to retain Mr. Iwu, who had set scandalous records as a rigger of elections in favor of candidates of the PDP. In addition to filing a pro-Iwu lawsuit, Mr. Ugochinyere also said he had galvanized 15 million youths to support Mr. Iwu.
Sources who know “Ikenga” personally say Mr. Ugochinyere has a capacity for sniffing out opportunities to create confusion as well as determining who can pay him the most. The sources said he loves to live a flamboyant lifestyle from the proceeds of his activities, with one source adding that Mr. Ugochinyere’s legal practice was virtually non-existent.
“Once he collects money, he jets abroad,” said one source. Indeed, Mr. Ugochinyere’s Facebook account contains photos of numerous travels to different tourist destinations around the world. He also appears to flaunt his several automobiles.
