We’ll teach PDP democracy – Al-Makura

Nasarawa State governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-Makura, has given reasons for hosting the10 governors of All Progressives Congress (APC) today, saying that it is to deflate the strength of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor said that the meeting was to ensure the success of the merger party in the forthcoming elections, describing the PDP as conservative and speculative.

Al -Makura, who landed at the Makurdi airport at about 6.39p.m. on Tuesday, said he was on his way from Lagos where he had paid a condolence visit to the Lagos State governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, over the death of his father.

He said, “the APC governors are meeting today in Nasarawa to fortify the merger parties and we want to show the ruling PDP that we are a progressive party that wants to meet the yearnings of the masses.”

“We want to meet the needs of the ordinary man on the street. The way and manner we organise ourselves is different from the way the PDP organises itself,” stressing that the merger parties would bring all their ideologies to work for the masses.

He further said that the party believes in internal democracy and assured that it will show the PDP how to democratise their activities.

Those expected at the meeting include Governors Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo) .

Others are Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha; Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari; Yobe State governor, Ibrahim Gaidam; Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima as well as the host governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.
