Two African countries, Ivory Coast and Ghana are in the top 30. Ivory Coast is perched on the 18th position, after losing five places, from being number 13, last month. Ghana is 24th, the same position it was at the last ranking.
Mali is ranked 32, moving downwards by four places from its 28th position last month. Algeria, like Nigeria retained its 34th position, while the small African state of Cape Verde is ranked 36th, just behind Nigeria. Cameroon is number 51, Tunisia 53 and Egypt 61.
Spain still leads the heavyweights, occupying the first place in the world. Indeed there was no change in the line up, of the first leading 12 nations. Germany is second, Colombia, Argentina, occupy the third and fourth places. Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Brazil, Belgium, Greece, Uruguay, followed in that order.
Bosnia-Herzegovina, England, Switzerland, Russia, Ecuador, all moved one place each. England is now 14th, behind Bosnia on 13th. Switzerland, 15th, Russia 16th and Ecuador 17th.
The US is now ranked among the top 20, jumping three positions to 19th, ahead of Mexico, Chile, Peru and France.
Success at the Gold Cup on home soil has propelled the United States upward pace.
The country leapfrogged Mexico as the highest ranked CONCACAF team thanks to their 1-0 victory over Panama in the final on July 28.
