Kanye West cracks rare joke as he opens up about his girlfriend and their baby North

His girlfriend has dated a stream of sports stars before him, including professional American football player Reggie Bush and her second husband, pro basketball player Kris Humphries.


And during a surprise appearance on Kim Kardashian's mother Kris Jenner's talk show, Kanye West joked he was so keen to date Kim he considered switching careers.

Opening up about his relationship with the 32-year-old and their daughter North West, Kanye joked that he's been 'so in love' with Kim that he thought about 'playing sports' since she previously dated sports stars Bush and Humphries.

It was certainly a surprise to see Kanye make an appearance on the show as his relationship with Kris at times has appeared strained.

The 36-year-old rapper taped a special interview with the 57-year-old on Monday in Culver City, California which will see the end of the trial summer run of her widely panned talk show.

Kanye discussed his love for Kim, their two-month-old baby girl North and his notoriously rocky relationship with the press.

For the interview, Kris wore a short long-sleeved red dress, while Kanye opted for a blue denim shirt over a grey T-shirt with brown trousers, as seen in an image provided by Entertainment Weekly.

The rapper was 'really bringing it' for the interview, a source told Us Weekly.

The exclusive interview with Kanye will air on Friday, August 23, during the final episode of a six-week trial run of the show.

Kris threw her hat into the talk show ring as daytime television has continued to struggle to find the next Oprah Winfrey.

Kris received a particularly harsh review from New York Post writer Linda Stasi and the mother of six made the unseemly decision to send her a sterling silver Tiffany pen and cupcakes.

Kris wrote: 'Dear Linda, Sorry you didn't like the show. I'm still a huge fan of your column. Love and blessings, Kris.'

She added: 'P.S. When you think I've improved, maybe you will write a better review with this.'

The momager of the Kardashian clan launched her new show with a bit of controversy as she passed of her stylist's baby for granddaughter North West in an attempt to drum up ratings.

The show also has leaned on her daughter Khloe Kardashian, the most likeable of the Kardashian clan to many.

Khloe recently donned an inflatable sumo wrestling suit in a recent broadcast and squared off against her mom as Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders looked on.
