Brila fm grabs La Liga, Copa del Rey matches

Sports Radio Brila FM scored yet another first Tuesday when it announced that it had secured exclusive rights to bring the Spanish La Liga commentaries and live Copa Del Rey matches to its numerous listeners starting from August 17.

The cheery news was unfolded by chief Executive Officer, Dr Larry Izamoje in a briefing at Eko Hotels.

“I’m pleased to inform that 83 years after La Liga started, the Spanish football authorities are for the first time putting La Liga and their Rup tournament, the Copa Del Rey on radion in Africa.

As it was in 2002 when we pioneered sports radion in Africa, we have acquired the exclusive commercial radio rights for both La Liga and Copa Del Rey on August 17.

Spread the word. It is another first from our stable’’, Izamoje who excelled as a print Journalist before hitting the roof with his must-listen Brila FM said in a hall that was brimming with ex-international soccer stars, distinguished journalists and captains of industries among others.

It was not only that. Izamoje also informed that given the achievements of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, Brila FM were in talks with organisers of the Bundesliga for the German league to, rightly and legally be on radio in Nigeria soon.

“Indeed, a test-run has been approved for us for Friday August 9, 2013 and if it goes well, both parties will formally sign a contract’’, he said amidst sporadic applause from the audience.

Dr Izamoje did not stop at that. He also informed that Brila fm yesterday unveiled their streaming partnership that enables them to be heard anywhere and everywhere in the world on desktop computers and mobiles.

However, he warned other stations who have no broadcast rights to stay away from running illegal commentaries. Ex-internationals, Peter Rufai, Victor Ikpeba and Mutiu Adepoju graced the occasion.
