Al-Mustapha must be watched closely, OPC warns FG

O’odua Peoples’ Congress, OPC, has advised the Federal Government to keep on surveillance, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, who was recently discharged and acquitted by Court of Appeal.

The Osun State Coordinator of OPC Comrade Oyeyinka Awoyemi, and Secretary, Mr. Waheed Olaniyan, gave the warning in a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo at the weekend.

The statement reads in part: “The Federal Government should ensure that Al-Mustapha is kept under security watch despite being discharged and acquitted of his alleged offences by the Appeal Court.

“Though the judgement of the Appeal Court sitting in Lagos has exonerated the former Chief Security Officer to the late Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Al- Mustapha, it must be noted that the case at the Appeal Court was not diligently prosecuted as there was element of bias in it.

“We are now sounding a serious warning to the Federal Government not to allow Major Al-Mustapha let loose, as he is capable of returning to his vomit. At least, it is said that leopard never changes its colour.”

Awoyemi and Olaniyan also spoke on the presence of Boko Haram in the South-West.

The OPC chieftains said the organisation was battle ready to confront the terror group and warned it to stay away from the South-West.

The OPC, which said it would work hand in hand with the security agents to fight crime in the state, urged the public to also help the police by giving them information that could lead to the arrest of criminals.
