The national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Bamanga Tukur made Adamawa State Gover Murtala Nyako who he is and whatever he thinks he is today, the special adviser to the party’s national chairman on mobilisation, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed Gabasawa has said.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP in Abuja yesterday, Alhaji Gabasawa said that Governor Nyako must be an ingrate and a poor student of history to have forgotten so soon that he owed his current political status as governor of Adamawa State to Dr Bamanga Tukur who, against all odds, stood by him to ensure his victory in 2007 and in subsequent elections.
Gabasawa, who was reacting to Nyako’s comment fortnight ago that the PDP was afflicted and in a comma and perhaps, awaiting burial, said it was the governor, and not PDP, that was politically afflicted and awaiting burial.
The special adviser said the national leadership of the PDP was aware of Nyako’s anti-party activities and his romance with the opposition, but added that Nyako’s eventual ouster from the PDP would not have negative impact on the party’s chances in future elections in the state.
He observed that Nyako aware of his tragic political end, was only looking for who to take down with him, saying even when the Adamawa State governor mentioned the idea of leaving the party to his Rivers State counterpart, Chibuike Amaechi, the latter told him it was a political suicide.
He further stated that Nyako’s recent comment was a sheer groaning of a dying man who orchestrated his own death, saying the governor dug his own grave by his failure to respect the party’s leadership, including his elders.
He assured that the people of Adamawa who elected the governor were strongly behind Dr Bamanga Tukur, even as he said the youth and elders in the North would always support the PDP national chairman.
