Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Oluremi Tinubu has warned Nigerians to desist from indulging in mob killings, describing the act as barbaric.
Sen. Tinubu gave this warning at the inauguration of a civil society movement, ‘Waging War against Mob Killings’ otherwise known as ‘Don’t Walk Away’.
The lawmaker represented by the Secretary, Surulere Local Government, Funmi Braithwaite, said: “It is grievous that perpetrators of mob actions or jungle justice have provided a source of entertainment to many who stand by and sometimes record atrocities without attempting to rescue the victims”.
She urged that all hands should be on deck to enlighten Nigerians on the need to give the law enforcement agents room to perform their primary assignment as “we all have a critical role to play in sensitising the populace towards effecting a change of attitude to mob killing.”
While commending the group for initiating the campaign, she added that it should be sustained until real change is effected.
