Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno has called on the Federal Government to set up a special intervention fund in aid of states affected by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Shettima made the call in Maiduguri, when he received a delegation of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in his office.
He said the funds would enable the states to tackle the challenges of rebuilding infrastructure destroyed as a result of terrorist attacks.
“We are making a case for special intervention funds to states affected by terrorist attacks.
“This is to enable them address the problem of infrastructure deficit as well as rebuild public structures destroyed by the terrorists.”
Shettima also said there was need for improved funding to states in the northern part of the country in the proposed review of revenue sharing formula for the country.
Earlier in his address, Alhaji Umar Abbagana, the Federal Commissioner representing Borno, had said that the visit was aimed at sensitising the people of the state on the proposed review.
