News: Onitsha bizman petitions IGP over threat to life in N37.9m deal

A businessman in Onitsha, Prince Chuma Ojukwu, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over alleged threat to his life by a business mogul, Chief Cletus Ibeto.

Ojukwu in the petition dated June 6, 2013 stated that the alleged threat to life by Ibeto followed his demand that the Ibeto Cement Company Limited paid N37.9 million owed him.

According to him, instead of paying the money accruing from a business transaction he had with the company, Ibeto preferred allegations of forgery, alteration, manipulation and inflation of prices of his (Ojukwu) cement transaction with the company over the years.

The petition which was first sent to the Inspector-General of Police and the Anambra State Police Commissioner on September 20, 2012 was copied the Presidency, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke; Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga and the Chairman, National Honours Award Committee, Justice Alfa Belgore (SAN).

Part of the petition, a copy of which was made available to Vanguard reads: “I humbly urge you to cause an investigation to be carried thoroughly into the allegations of forgery, alteration, manipulation and inflation of prices of my cement transaction with Ibeto Cement Company Limited over the years.

“Also please investigate false information to the police and trumped up three-count charge against me, holden in Port Harcourt.”

He appealed to the IGP to cause a thorough investigation into the matter so that his money would be paid to him immediately.
