A 20-year-old house help, Christiana Jonah, who was alleged to have stolen valuables worth N10 million, was Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court.
Jonah, who is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, levelled against her by the police, was docked before Magistrate A. O. Akinde.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the offence was committed at Plot 1862, Abraimoh Kuku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He said the defendant stole coral beads and wrist watches valued N10 million, perfume and scarfs worth N15,000 and N27,000 cash.
The prosecutor said that the stolen items were property of Mrs Adeola Yusuf. According to him, the offence committed contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read.
Magistrate Akinde granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to August 5, 2013.
