The President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Osahon Enabulele, has been elected Vice President of the Commonwealth Medical Association (CMA).
This is contained in a statement signed by Enabulele in Abuja on Sunday.
The election took place at the 23rd Triennial Conference and Council meeting of the CMA held from July 4 to July 7 in Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr Solaiman Juman, a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon and former President of the Trinidad & Tobago Medical Association, emerged as the new CMA President.
The association comprising the National Medical Associations (NMAs) from at least 42 Commonwealth countries was founded in 1962.
The aim of the CMA is to assist and strengthen the capacities of NMAs of countries within the Commonwealth to improve the health and well-being of their communities and countries.
It is achieved through regional and international workshops on health issues; medical and health research; advocacy on health issues and capacity building for member associations.
The others are collaboration with other international bodies, civil society and governance institutions with similar objectives.
The newly sworn in officials of the CMA will pilot the affairs of the association for the next four years.
