The president of the Foundation, Mrs Charity Davou Dawang, made this call yesterday, when she visited LEADERSHIP Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, in company of the vice-president, Mrs Chinwe Nwegerue.
According to her, the two-month-old Master Abubakar was born without an anus, resulting in his inability to pass out faeces. He was taken to the National Hospital, Abuja, two weeks after his birth when the parents observed that his stomach was swollen. At the hospital, it was discovered that he had no anus. This led to an operation at the lower abdomen to create an artificial opening through which the child could pass waste.
It was gathered that it did not end there, as complications developed, leading to protrusion of the intestine through the created opening, and other abnormal health conditions.
The Foundation swung into action following a save-our -soul call made to it by the helpless mother, who took baby to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, where the child has been receiving treatment on the bill of the Foundation.
The surgeon has recommended three successive surgical operations to save the life of Baby Abdullahi. According to Davou, N2m is required to fund the surgery and other medical charges.
The Foundation, therefore, appeals to well-meaning individuals to respond to the plight of th Abubakars. Financial assistance can be made through the following account number: 0129093995, Account Name: Dependable Basic Concept, Bank: GTB.
The Foundation has also set about soliciting for other forms of assistance like provision of diapers, baby formula, clothes and other baby items from the public.
