Three persons, Yekini Omoniyi, Abu Aminu and Bola Ipaye accused of torturing their victim, one Segun Oyelabi, to death while allegedly recovering debt were, Monday, charged for murder before an Ikeja High Court.
The deceased, Oyelabi, was allegedly murdered on March 15, 2012 at Ikotun area of Lagos after he was allegedly tortured by the accused persons.
Omoniyi, Aminu (males) and Ipaye, were arraigned before Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo by the Lagos State Directorate of Prosecutions, DPP, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
Mr. Olakulehin Oke, who brought the charge against them on behalf of the government, alleged that the defendants tortured the deceased to death after he failed to pay a debt owed Ipaye, a bar operator.
According to him, the said offences contravened Sections 221 and 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
However, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Justice Onigbanjo subsequently ordered them to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter till October 3 for mention.
