Otis Maho: From boxing to rapping

Otis Maho? Don’t think too hard about where this kind of name is coming from. His full name is Alfred Tunde,  which suggests that he is of Yoruba descent.


The artiste, who is billed to release the video of his single Dobale  (Prostrate) soon, is a returnee from Germany, where he had lived for about 17 years. While he has also lived in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, the most interesting aspect of his story is that he is said to have been a professional boxer. Yet, he is back into what he calls his first love – music.

Dobale is a collaboration he did with Nigerian rap act, Reminisce; while Maho also has an accompanying single, Popopo, said to have been mixed by Dee Jay Indomix.

According to the artiste’s manager, Wale Seriki, after performing at the Nigezie-organised Urban Connect last weekend, Maho is out of the country to perform at the Prague, Chech Republic. Seriki says he was inspired by his mother who was a chorister.
