THE Niger Delta Youth Movement, NDYM, Middle Belt Youth League, MBYL and Ogoni Solidarity Forum, OSF in collaboration with the Ogoni Economic Forum, OEF, said, yesterday, it was set to launch a book in honour of late Ken Saro Wiwa. The book launch is to be held in conjunction with his 72ndmemorial lecture in Lagos.
According to the Secretary, Middle Belt Youth League and Chairman of the planning and organizing committee, Engr. Kaspa Abah, the group is being influenced and motivated by the philosophy, moral fibre, ideals and principles of the Vietnamese proverb that says: “when eating the fruits, think of the person that planted the tree.”
Abah said: “The groups are organizing the programme as their own little way of remembering the person that planted the tree, from which minorities in particular and the world as a whole are benefitting today by remembering Ken Saro-Wiwa for the roles he played in the libration, embellishment and enhancement of image, political-ethnic status of the minorities in Nigeria, whether in the North or the South of the country, and in particular in protecting the world environment as a human rights and environmental activist. He did all these using Ogoniland through the platform of MOSOP as a case for study; as a model and example.”
The event, earlier scheduled to hold on July 30, 2013 at the International Institute International Affairs, Lagos will now hold on August 27, 2013 at the same venue.
