THE whereabouts of the Chairman of the beleaguered Ekiti State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Makanjuola Ogundipe, has remained unknown days after thugs invaded the secretariat, beat up some members of the party’s executive and journalists over disagreements on how to select the party’s governorship candidate for 2014.
Some members of the party told Saturday Tribune in Ado Ekiti on Friday, that he had allegedly “gone into hiding,” but Ogundipe’s media aide, Mr Femi Omolusi, denied that his boss had gone into hiding.
Ogundipe had not been seen since last week and has remained yet to be seen since the recent round of crisis that beset the party but had only been heard through his media aide, who insists that “Ogundipe is in Abuja on a party assignment.”
The Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Oluwawole and the Director General of its Directorate of Information, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan, had addressed newsmen on Wednesday, after the botched press conference of Tuesday, and announced that Ogundipe remained suspended as chairman of the party.
But the deputy chairman, who was asked to take over the affairs of the party in acting capacity for one month pending “investigation of the chairman”, Mr Femi Bamisile, declined to take the position, insisting that the “purported suspension is a joke and we see it as such,” he said.
