Multi-million Naira hospital complex commissioned in PortHarcourt

Gynescope Hospital, a specialist hospital located in the heart of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, can simply be described as  an architectural masterpiece because of its symmetric concept which is finished with carefully detailed aluminum composite bonds and glass curtain walls spanning through the entire building height, that helps to provide natural light into the circulation spaces in the building.

The entrance of the building is fitted with automatic sensor detecting sliding glass doors, that bring patients into an unconventional tastefully furnished lounge-style reception/waiting area as they sit down while viewing large flat screen TVs, surf the web with Wi-Fi internet access and enjoying the cosy cool lounge powered by ceiling concealed air-conditioning units.

Also housed on the ground floor are consulting rooms, a pharmacy, administrative office, nurses’ room.
The first to third floor accommodate state-of-the-art fully equipped main theatre, delivery wards, recovery room, endoscopy theatre for hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures and special care baby unit all situated in a biometric access restricted area.

The building also comprises tastefully furnished single, double and executive suite-styled in-patient wards equipped with split unit air conditioners, flat screen TVs, Wi-Fi, Intercom and sit-out balconies  spread across with all toilets fitted with cold/hot water supply, floor finished with Spanish tiles and suspended frameless glass shower cubicles.

Front and back relaxation terraces are strategically located to give a perfect view of the entire surrounding scenery. The In Vitro Fertilizer, IVF Unit which is the most important feature, is also in a restricted area on the final floor, thus creating a perfect and pure working environment. All these spaces are powered by two sets of 350KVA stand-by Generators and inverters. The spaces are connected with lobbies, lit during the day by natural light through the glass curtain walls, and at night by ceiling recessed spot lights. There are three stairs, lined with stainless steel hand rails, a service ramp and a lift which can accommodate a hospital bed.

A well landscaped site made alive by a beautiful maternity sculptural water fountain with ample parking space serves as entourage for the magnificent masterpiece and makes Gynescope Specialist Hospital an ideal facility for IVF, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, ICSI, general gynaecology and obstetrics with a bit of neonatal health care.

At the commissioning of the complex recently, the Medical Director, Gynescope Specialist Hospital, Dr. Jude Okohue, said he had decided to add pleasure to work, adding that many often entertain fear when they hear about hospital, pointing out that but with the new complex, “our clients can now experience the feeling of being at the hospital and home at the same time.”

The complex which was designed by TY Achitects Limited, took a period of 18 months for its completion.
