A man was arrested, charged and convicted after having sex with a goat, according to court proceedings in the United Kingdom.
Now, a British man, who admitted to having sex with a goat several months ago, was sentenced to six weeks in jail on Thursday. He was also banned from entering facilities that hold animals.
Robert Newman, 23, who sexually assaulted the goat in an animal barn in Devizes Wiltshire, initially denied the charge of having sex with a live animal, but then changed his plea and admitted the attack.
At the time of the attack Newman was serving an eight-week suspended sentence for a burglary he committed last year.
The North West Wiltshire Magistrate’s Court heard that the goat required treatment for injuries sustained during the sexual assault.
Prosecutor Anna Humphreys read a victim impact statement on behalf of the owner of the goat, who was not identified in court.
"This defendant has cost us a considerable amount of money because we had to install security cameras in the barn. We also had to pay for veterinary fees and antibiotics for injuries sustained by the goat," the victim said in a statement to the court.
