Osun State Police Command has dragged a septuagenarian, Yusuf Alao (70), before an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defrauding a policeman, Mr Sulaiman Olorukoba.

The charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Friday alleged that Alao defrauded Olorukoba to the tune of N180,000.

Alao allegedly obtained the sum under the pretence of buying a plot of land for Olorukoba, sometimes in 2003 at Oke-Ayepe area, Osogbo, the State of Osun capital.

The charge sheet further alleged that the accused person stole the sum of N180,000 belonging  to the victim, adding that the allegations are punishable under Section 419 and 390(9) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

Defence Counsel, Mrs Nnena Ngwu, pleaded with the court to release the suspect on bail, assuring the court that reliable sureties would stand for the accused person if granted.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Isiaka Ajadi, did not also oppose the bail application.

The presiding magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, later admitted the suspect to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.
