The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, arraigned a 22-year-old Ibrahim Soremilakun before an Abeokuta Magistrate’s court for allegedly breaking into the house of one Akeem Alao and stole items valued at N 90,000.
The accused person who was not represented pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of felony, burglary and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ozimini told the court that the offence was committed on August 18 at about 2 a.m. at Surulere Community Camp, in Abeokuta.
According to Ozimini, the accused broke into Alao’s house and stole three phones, a wrist watch, a necklace, a pair of earring and N 70,000 all valued at N 90,000.
“Luck ran out on him when the couples raised alarm, Soremilekun took to his heels and was caught by the neighbourhood vigilante in a broken down vehicle pretending to be asleep.
“ The accused was identified by the Aloas who confirmed that he was the one who broke into their house and stole their belongings,” the prosecutor said.
Ozimini said that the offence contravened Sections 411, 412 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mr Emanuel Adekunte granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
He thereafter, adjourned the matter to Sept. 17 for further hearing.
