Five men docked for allegedly stealing N22m

A 46- year- old man Meriga Isah and four others were yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing the N22 million, belonging to MYCil Nigeria Ltd.


The other suspects are Uzoma Aguasi 33, Obinna Kingsley 32, Shuiabu Abdulahi 28 and Danladi Yusuf 36.

The defendants, who are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, preferred against them by the Police, were docked before Magistrate Mrs Abimbola Komolafe.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Iranus Nnamonu, said that the defendants and others at large, committed the alleged crime on August 9, 2013 at about 7pm, at Apapa area of Lagos.

He said that the defendants conspired  to steal 160 drums of chemicals  belonging to MYCiL Nigeria Limited, valued at N22million.

The prosecutor said that the offence committed is punishable under section 409 and 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos  Nigeria 2011.

However, when the charge was read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty to the two- count charge against them.

Magistrate Komolafe granted them bail in the sum of N250,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She further adjourned the case to October 10, 2013, for mention.

Meanwhile the defendants were remanded to prison pending when they are able to perfect their bail condition.
