Edo govt wades into IPMAN crisis

Edo State Government has waded into the factional crisis rocking the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, in the state and urged the new zonal chairman of the Mid-Western Zone, Mr. Sylvanus Idanwekhai, to reach out to aggrieved members in the aftermath of the election.

It will be recalled that the Chief Solomon Ogbewe-led faction of IPMAN, which enjoys the support of the national leadership, had described the purported election of Idanwekhai as unconstitutional.

However, the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, who met with the new leadership of IPMAN in the state, when they paid him a courtesy visit, described the oil sector as critical to the growth of the country and warned against further crisis in the association.

He urged the new leadership to work closely with relevant government agencies to ensure steady distribution of petroleum products and warned the Ogbe-we-led leadership to hand over properly to the new leadership.

Earlier, the zonal chairman, Mr. Idanwekhai, whose address was read by the Zonal Secretary, Osaze Izedomwen, said that the visit was to formally express gratitude to the state government for its intervention in the prolonged crisis that rocked the association and assure of their continuous support to the state government.
