Boko Haram Sects Ready To Accept Dialogue – Amnest C’ttee

A report by the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of the security situation in the northern part of the country shows that some key members of the Boko Haram sect are beginning to accept to dialogue with the federal government to resolve the insurgency in northern Nigeria.


Chairman of the Committee and Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Turaki disclosed this to journalists at a world press conference in the Presidential Villa.

He said that the Boko Haram members took the decision in Shura which the highest decision making body in Islam, confirming that their decision is based on the conviction that every Muslim must at all times embrace dialogue to ensure that peace reigns in the land.

They urged their members who are still in the field to accept dialogue and give peace a chance.

The panel could not confirm whether or not the report by the military that the leader of the sect Shekau may have been killed promising to confirm the story in the course of their assignment.

The presidential committee has between now and September 24 to conclude its assignment.
