The 1 Brigade Army Command, Sokoto yesterday raided a suspected Boko Haram hideout at GidanIgwai within the metropolis and arrested suspects, Commands spokesman has said.
According to the Commands spokesman, Capt. Yahaha Musa, they acted on a tip off to get rid of fleeing insurgents into the State.
“The operation was conducted as part of the ongoing efforts to rid Sokoto state of the fleeing insurgents from the volatile areas like Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, among others”, Musa maintained.
While urging the good people of Sokoto State and Nigerians to maintain the tempo by reporting suspicious personalities within their domain, Capt. Musa affirmed that Sokoto remains the most peaceful State in the nation and they are determined to maintain that status against all odds.
Decrying that fleeing insurgents might be taken refuge in some peaceful States of the north, Capt. Musa warned that the insurgents cannot make peaceful States their safe havens, hence, they are ready to dislodge them at all times.
The Army spokesman said, he cannot ascertain any fatality when compiling this story. He however, noted that scores of the insurgents were arrested.
“The operation by the army would be sustained and intensified just like our sister security organisations are also doing theirs, nationwide.
“I cannot however confirm any fatalities as at now but scores of arrests have been made whose details would be made available later”, Capt. Musa added.
The Army spokesman who charged the good people of the north, Sokoto State and Nigeria to sustain the tempo by divulging information also noted that the job of securing lives and properties lies in everybody’s hands.
