As Kano residents count their loses at last Friday’s heavy downpour, about 40 floating bodies were found in one of the cemeteries in the metropolis. Alhaji Muhammad Abdulhadi, a resident of Sallari quarters in Tarauni local government area, told our reporter that “We were just on a search and rescue mission of our two missing brothers in the surging waters.”

Areas were considerable number of houses collapsed include Chedi, Dorayi, Naibawa, Hotoro and Kalkasara quarters.

In an effort to get details of the measures taken by the state government, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Environment, Maryam Muhammad said that a committee on drainages was earlier inaugurated by the state government. “They are doing their work”, she said.
