I promise to be true to you in good and bad times, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honour you all the days of my life…” These were part of vows 17 couples made before their kin and friends yesterday in a mass wedding at a Catholic church in Nairobi.

The event, which was well-attended, was full of pomp and colour. Some couples were beginning their marriage life while others were renewing their vows.

The wedding held in Regina Caeli Karen Catholic Church was a sight to behold and those in-charge of performances did not let the crowd down.

There was plenty of dancing, singing, gifting and a beautiful sermon on family ties spiced the day for the couple and the guests.

The brides stood out in their unique gowns while the grooms were not left behind as most wore African outfits.

Robert and Bernaddita Kagecha aged 37 and 30 respectively, who have been married for 11 years and blessed with two children, like most couples in the event were renewing their vows.

Mr Kagecha said the youth should not shy away from committing to each other in holy matrimony and being strong in the church.

“We need to believe in marriage institution and wedding in church is the first step in the right direction” said a smiling remarried man.

Bernaddita wearing a red and white African attire said it is not hard to plan a wedding when you have support from all corners.

She praised mass weddings, saying they cut down budgets and save a lot of time because many parties are involved in the planning process.
