A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP former governorship aspirant in Delta State, Mr. Sunny Onuesoke, weekend, urged the leader of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, to steer clear of the seeming crisis between Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and President Goodluck Jonathan.
Onuesoke, who was reacting to recent media reports credited to Tinubu, said that the PDP has all it takes to resolve its internal crisis and urged Tinubu to stop making statements that could worsen the PDP crisis in Rivers State.
He said: “Amaechi and Jonathan are members of PDP, the party does not need external person or party to resolve its internal crisis. I, therefore, appeal to the respected ACN leader, Tinubu to steer clear of the internal matters of PDP.”
Urging the leadership of PDP to take urgent steps to resolving the crisis, which according to him was getting out of hand, he said; “Amaechi and Jonathan are like father and son. Jonathan is Amaechi’s father. As a matter of fact, they are from the same state because if you recalled, Rivers and Bayelsa is one state before the creation of Bayelsa.”
Commending efforts put in by governors in the country to resolve the lingering dispute, Onuesoke said; “our South South governors can resolve this issue behind the doors.”
He appealed to the warring parties in the Rivers House of Assembly to sheathe their swords and continue to live as one, adding “they should not allow themselves to be used in a crisis that is purely between father and son.”
