News: Imo PDP blasts Okorocha over alleged statement

IMO State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed claims credited to Governor Rochas Okorocha that the party was habouring criminals, describing the statement as baseless.

It lampooned Okorocha for retiring 17 permanent secretaries  over  alleged refusal  to yield to his style of governance.

A statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Blyden Amaji, regretted that the governor was yet to absorb into the state’s public service some Imo public servants fired by Abia State government.

His words: “How can Rochas Okorocha accuse PDP of habouring criminals and not meaningfully moving this country forward when he was sacked as Special Assistant to President Obasanjo for reasons that are not unrelated to shaddy deals”?

‘’ Today under governor Rochas Okorocha, hunger is ravaging Imo State. Absolutely all contracts, including the supply of uniforms to schools, construction of the sub-standard roads for which the governor is beating his chest, name it, are performed by either Roche, Rochas or his cronies and relations.

“Thus, Governor Okorocha is feeding fat, expanding his business empires and enlarging his estates, while the people are not as much as allowed to pick crumbs from his dining table.’

‘’When the Abia state government fired Imo public servants in that state, governor Okorocha promised to absorb them into the Imo state public service but up till date and not untypical of him, the governor has not and may never make good that promise.’

‘’Governor Okorocha in his many unenviable firsts has become the first governor of Imo state indeed Nigeria, to send a whole generation of permanent secretaries  on forced retirement just because they refused to yield to his unholy and unconventional style of governance devoid of due process .’

‘’The people of Imo State are in a position now to determine whether or not their children and wards are enjoying the Okorocha-promised free education at the senior secondary and university levels.”
