Adeboye gave the advice at a special prayer session organised for lecturers at the RCCG National Headquarters in Ebute Meta, Lagos.
“Education is the only way to mould good citizens; therefore, you should endeavour to teach correctly and rightly to change the students’ lives, while changing our educational system and the society at large,” he said.
The cleric urged the people to obey God’s commandments so as to attract His blessings, adding, however, that “excellence does not come in a cheap way.
“If you want to excel in life, you must be ready to work hard; excellence requires that you get to the top and remain there.
“We, the academicians, must be very humble before man and God; we should forget our degrees,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the lecturers, Prof. Jide Osuntokun, a former lecturer at the University of Lagos, thanked Adeboye for organising the prayer session, adding that it was a wakeup call for all academicians.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for all academicians all over Nigeria to come together to thank God and renew our calling in our chosen profession.
“We hope to go back and impart positively on our students and mould future leaders of our country who will be intellectually and academically sound,” he added.
