Gossip: Man kills wife, disappears with their three children

Ongata Rongai , Kenya: Police in Ongata Rongai are investigating an incident where a middle aged man killed his wife on Tuesday night in Kware area and disappeared with their three children.

Police reports indicate that the deceased, Jesicah Onjiri, worked together with her husband, Geoffrey Maina Onjiri, in a stone quarry in Kiserian.

Rongai police boss Francis Sang confirmed the incident and said neighbours who broke into the house reported the case when they stumbled upon the body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood.

Speaking to the The Standard, Sang said neighbours became suspicious when the family failed to wake up and attend to their normal duties, an incident which prompted them to check the house.

“It emerged that the door of their house was closed from outside and when the neighbours forced entry, they stumbled upon the body of the deceased lying on the floor with deep cuts on the head,” said Sang.

It is alleged that the two had a domestic dispute at night before the wife was killed.

Sang said the suspect vanished to an unknown destination with their three children after the murder but police have launched a manhunt for him.

“We have launched a manhunt and we have some leads which will help in the investigations. We have confidence that the suspect will be arrested and taken to court,” Sand told The Standard.

The body of the deceased was removed to the City Mortuary.
