Business: MTN Business unveils latest female entrepreneur

Female entrepreneurship, in Nigeria got a boost last weekend, as the curtain fell on 13 weeks of intensive intellectual drills and tasks, at one of Nigeria’s most resourceful entrepreneurship reality shows, the MTN Business Next Titan academy.

The academy which has just produced a 27-year old, female Public Health and Promotion graduate, Ogbeifun Iroghama, as the winner of its inaugural season, is setting the pace for women entrepreneurship, which is fast gaining prominence, in Nigeria and, indeed, Africa as a whole.

Speaking at the grand finale, Ruth Obi, CEO of 3Invest said that participating and emerging  overall winner of the reality show is not about winning the prize money or courting fame but “about greatness through establishing businesses  capable of providing solutions to socio-economic challenges that Nigeria currently faces.”

For her, the emergence of enterprising young women across different sectors in the nation, is inspiring, taking into account the growing agitation to accord the female gender its desired place in impacting on the society positively.

This is, however, in tandem with various global initiatives and movements like UNESCO’s Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and campaigns by the Aids-Free-world organizations. It is expected that the extraordinary intelligence and passion exhibited by the winner of the Next Titan’s entrepreneurship reality show will go a long way to inspire more women in Nigeria and beyond to go into transformative businesses.
